Professional Skills of Learners Enhanced with the Support of the First President’s Museum

On February 13, 2026, the Department of Tourism and Service of K. Kulazhanov Kazakh University of Technology and Business, in cooperation with the First President’s Museum, held a professional competition titled “Mastery of Conducting Excursions.” The successful organization of the event was made possible through the comprehensive support of the museum’s leadership and the professional partnership of its team.

The competition was held offline in the exhibition halls of the First President’s Museum. The museum provided learners with the opportunity to work in a real museum environment, prepare guided tour fragments based on authentic exhibitions, and gain valuable professional experience. The museum’s chief expert and professional guide, Kairzhan Fazylzhanovich Konyrshin, conducted a preliminary master class on excursion guiding, explaining in detail which exhibits should be emphasized and how to effectively engage with an audience. As a result, learners were able to confidently master a large volume of information and successfully present it to the audience. During the main stage of the competition, participants conducted guided tours based on the museum’s exhibitions “Atameken,” “Astana — Symbol of Independence,” “Intellectual Nation,” as well as an exhibition composed of a collection of personal belongings and decorative plates.

The museum space served not only as a competition venue but also as a real model of future professional activity for learners. Direct work with exhibitions, interpretation of historical and cultural heritage, and interaction with the audience were all made possible through the museum’s support. In addition, the inclusion of a museum representative in the evaluation committee enhanced the professional level of the event and ensured fair and high-quality expert assessment from practicing specialists.

The museum also provided organizational and informational support, creating favorable conditions for participants to work with exhibition materials.

The Director of the Corporate Fund of the First President’s Museum, Kulaisha Kabdualievna Aktayeva, praised the high level of preparation of the learners, their professional conduct, and their foreign language proficiency, noting that she saw future professionals among them and inviting them to consider working at the museum after completing their studies. This competition clearly demonstrated the effective results of mutually beneficial cooperation between the university and the museum. The integration of theoretical knowledge and museum practice contributed to the development of learners’ professional competencies, the improvement of excursion guiding culture, and the promotion of historical and cultural heritage.

The support of the First President’s Museum became an important platform for developing practical skills of future tourism professionals, helping them adapt to the professional environment and раскрыть their creative potential. There is strong confidence that such joint projects will continue in the future, further strengthening the integration of education and culture.
