International cooperation

Prospective Cooperation

International cooperation of the Kazakh University of Technology and Business is a key factor in its integration into the global educational environment.

Mission:

To develop international cooperation aimed at improving the educational and research processes and enhancing the quality of human capital training through the creative use of international experience.

Goals:

  • signing international agreements (memoranda) on cooperation with foreign educational and research institutions;
  • implementation of projects in academic affairs, research activities, technological and innovative development, as well as cooperation in the field of student development and youth education.

International Activities

International activities, as one of the priority areas, are carried out in accordance with the established long-term objectives and policies of the University, as well as the five-year Strategic Development Plan of the Kazakh University of Technology and Business.

These activities are aimed at the internationalization of education and science, studying international best practices, and exploring new forms of integration between Kazakhstani and foreign educational systems.

The main areas of international activities include:

  1. implementation of academic mobility programs for undergraduate and graduate students in relevant fields of study;
  2. delivery of guest lectures and academic mobility of leading faculty members;
  3. implementation of dual-degree education programs;
  4. completion of research internships by graduate students and faculty members;
  5. conduct of joint research activities;
  1. organization and participation in cultural, creative, and educational events.

Key Factors for Integration into the Global Educational Environment

The key factors for the integration of KUTB into the global educational environment are implemented through the following areas:

  • integration into the European higher education system;
  • partnerships with foreign universities, educational centers, and other organizations, including joint programs and activities in the field of scientific and technological cooperation;
  • further development of academic mobility.

International Master Class

Within the framework of the partnership, from October 6 to November 3, 2022, the faculty members of the departments participated in international master classes organized by the Belgian Education Council (Brussels).

The master classes were held under the auspices of the Cyberpedagogue movement and focused on practical and relevant topics of contemporary education, including:

  • Is “soft power” really powerful? How to influence, manage, inspire, and guide by using the educator’s “soft power”.
  • Learn to ask the right questions and enjoy the learning process!
  • Personal experience as a tool for teaching students.
  • Which way is the wind blowing? How can educators effectively prevent emerging challenges?
  • Why should modern educators give “so much” to students?

Upon completion of each master class, an international certificate was awarded solely based on the successful completion of specific practical assignments.

Visit of the Delegation from the Republic of Belarus

In November 2022, a meeting was organized with a delegation of the largest industrial concern Bellegprom (Republic of Belarus).

The meeting was attended by the senior management of the concern, an advisor from the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Kazakhstan, heads of leading light industry enterprises in Astana, as well as representatives of KUTB, including faculty members of the Department of Light Industry Technology and Design.

The meeting was productive, and agreements were reached to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with Belarusian higher education institutions and enterprises aimed at developing joint programs for professional development and internships for faculty members, student academic mobility, and the advancement of research in the field of light industry.

Letter of Appreciation from Belgium

The Belgian Education Council (Brussels) sent a letter of appreciation to the President-Rector of the University, S. N. Baibekov, in recognition of the active participation of the University’s faculty members in the international master classes held from October 6 to November 3, 2022.

The Belgian side expressed its hope for further cooperation in organizing practice-oriented master classes for faculty members on relevant and topical issues.

Cooperation with India

On December 6, 2022, a visit was made by the First Secretary of the Embassy of India and Director of the Cultural Center, Sanjay Vedi.

The meeting was organized to establish close cooperation and interaction with Indian higher education institutions in the areas of student academic mobility, dual-degree education, internships and professional development of faculty members, as well as joint research activities.

The meeting was productive, and concrete proposals were developed by both parties.

Cooperation with a Leading University of Uzbekistan

On December 6, 2022, a visit was made by the First Secretary of the Embassy of India and Director of the Cultural Center, Sanjay Vedi.

The meeting was organized to establish close cooperation and interaction with Indian higher education institutions in the areas of student academic mobility, dual-degree education, internships and professional development of faculty members, as well as joint research activities.

The meeting was productive, and concrete proposals were developed by both parties.

Expansion of Partnership with Turkey

On February 7, 2023, a productive meeting was held with Volkan Uçar, Director of the Turkish company Funplusjob.

This cooperation provides students with opportunities to undertake professional internships, participate in job fairs, thematic seminars and conferences, as well as training and professional development activities.

During the meeting, which included presentations and educational materials from the company, students of the academic programs Tourism and Restaurant and Hospitality Management demonstrated strong engagement and keen interest in completing international professional internships at leading hotels in Turkey.

Work is currently underway to sign official cooperation documents with the interested company Funplusjob

Professional Training in India

With funding provided by the Government of India under the ITEC program, three faculty members are currently enhancing their professional qualifications: Associate Professors Zh. T. Botbayeva and A. D. Shontaev, and Senior Lecturer Sh. N. Akzholtaeva.

This training is conducted at leading educational and research institutions in India, including the National Institute of Agricultural Management (Hyderabad) and the Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur).

It is especially noteworthy that, thanks to the ITEC program of the Government of India, the university’s faculty members are updating their theoretical and practical knowledge and enhancing their professional competencies.

Visit of the Delegation from the Distant Continent of Australia

On February 16, 2023, a meeting was held with representatives of the University of Technology Sydney (Australia): Leona Tamm – Professor and Dean of the Business School; Richard Lam – Regional Director of the University; Gabriel Radu – University Representative in Central Asia; and Stefan Tapescu – University Partner.

The meeting took place in a friendly and positive atmosphere, with an exchange of presentations and information about the activities of the University of Technology Sydney. Further work to develop productive cooperation between our universities will continue.

International Professional Development (Ankara, Turkey)

In February 2023, international professional development courses were held in Ankara, Turkey, for nine university staff members: A. Sh. Nurgaliyeva, K. T. Altaybekova, A. K. Zhortushinova, A. A. Zhunusova, N. Zh. Kurmankulova, I. V. Yardyakova, G. K. Bekmagambetova, A. E. Zhetpisbaeva, and A. Sh. Kozhamurat.

The courses focused on the relevant topic of “Action Research” and included pedagogical methods and techniques applicable in the teaching process.

The university staff received international certificates and letters of appreciation for their active participation. Such international courses provide an opportunity to update theoretical and practical knowledge and to further develop professional competencies.

Membership as an International Expert

Almagul Shaymuratovna Nurgaliyeva, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Service, serves as an active international expert at the Independent Institute of Accreditation, Rating, and Certification of Kyrgyzstan.

In this honorary role, on March 30–31 of the current year, A. Sh. Nurgaliyeva conducted international accreditation work at the M. Ryskulbekov Kyrgyz Economic University.

The scope and geographic reach of her work as an international expert continue to expand annually.

Productive Meeting with Indian Colleagues

On April 17, 2023, an online meeting was held with the leadership of the University of Lucknow (India).

During the meeting, discussions focused on establishing close cooperation in the following areas: student exchange, guest lectures by faculty members, professional development of teaching staff, joint research activities and publications, as well as organization of conferences and seminars.

An agreement was reached on the bilateral signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation.

Work in this direction has commenced.

Productive Meeting with Colleagues from Malaysia

On June 12, 2023, a meeting was held with the leadership of the Malaysia University of Technology. This university has a long history dating back to 1905, is one of the largest higher education institutions in Malaysia, and holds leading positions in international rankings.

The online meeting was productive, and concrete proposals for cooperation were developed.

In particular, planned areas of collaboration include: student exchange, guest lectures by faculty members, professional development of teaching staff, joint research activities, co-authored publications, and the organization of conferences and seminars.

The signing of a Memorandum (Agreement) of Cooperation is planned, and further work on implementing these initiatives will continue.

Friendly Visit of a Delegation from England

On June 20, 2023, a meeting was held with representatives from seven higher education institutions from England.

The meeting took place in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The guests were given an introductory tour of the university’s main administrative building, including a demonstration of the modern laboratory and technical facilities, the scientific achievements of the faculty, as well as visual and creative works by students.

The guests showed particular interest in the fields of information and communication technologies, robotics, and electronics.

Collaboration between the universities will continue to further develop cooperation.

International Summer School in Kazan

From July 11 to 21, 2023, at Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, faculty members enhanced their professional qualifications on the topic “Project Management in Education”: Professor K. Zh. Sadvokasova and master’s students G. K. Karmanova, L. Zh. Bayron, and A. M. Rakhimzhanova.

Simultaneously, a summer program for youth, organized by the Russian side, focused on “Summer University: Innovation, Commonwealth, Youth”, in which second-year students Ramil Undasynov and Beksultan Saktambayev participated.

All expenses were covered by the budget of the Russian Federation.

It is noteworthy that Professor K. Zh. Sadvokasova, Doctor of Economics, presented on behalf of our university several national gifts she brought: a kamzol (traditional jacket), a scarf, and souvenirs. These gifts were received with great appreciation.

Our faculty members also presented the history of our university, which was received with great interest. Interviews with our faculty were recorded by the television service of Kazan Federal University, and the video was broadcast simultaneously across 40 university buildings.

The program for faculty and students included lectures, seminars, practical sessions, as well as excursions and cultural activities visiting historical and innovative landmarks of Tatarstan. Highlights included visits to Sviyazhsk Island, the state-of-the-art Innopolis University, and the Planetarium.

Most importantly, the program allowed faculty members to improve their communication skills and teaching methodology.

Upon completion of the program, participants received international certificates.

Master Classes by Renowned Turkish Chefs

On January 24, 2024, distinguished Turkish chefs Bülent Uıldız and Hasan Kılıç were invited to the university.

The chefs conducted master classes for students enrolled in the academic programs “Restaurant and Hospitality Management” and “Food Technology”.

They demonstrated the preparation methods and stages of the traditional national dish “Hünkar Beğendi – The Sultan Liked It”, and showcased key elements, techniques, and service styles in restaurant management.

Additionally, the chefs shared secrets, tips, and ideas from top chefs from other countries.

Through this hands-on process, students gained professional knowledge, skills, practical abilities, and experience valuable for their future careers.

Meeting with Chinese Colleagues

In December 2023, at the invitation of Chinese colleagues, a visit was organized to the leading higher education institutions in Chongqing, China: the Institute of Light Industry, Chongqing Institute of Electronics and Engineering, and Chongqing University of Science and Technology.

The delegation included S. A. Altynbek, Vice-Rector for Research and External Relations, and S. Z. Abdykarimova, Head of the International Relations Department.

These Chinese institutions have a long history of development and have achieved significant accomplishments in education, research, and international activities.

The meetings were productive and held in a friendly atmosphere. Following the discussions, the Chinese colleagues expressed interest in cooperation, and the negotiation process is ongoing.
