On February 13, 2026, the Department of Tourism and Service of K. Kulazhanov Kazakh University of Technology and Business, in cooperation with the First President’s Museum, held a professional competition titled “Learners’ Mastery of Conducting Excursions.” The event was organized as part of the Department of Tourism and Service Week and aimed to enhance the practical training of future tourism professionals and develop their professional competencies in the field of экскурсия services.
At the opening ceremony, the Director of the Corporate Fund of the First President’s Museum, Aktayeva Kulaisha Kabdualievna, emphasized the importance of such events in the professional preparation of learners. Welcoming remarks were also delivered by the representative of the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Head of the Department of Tourism and Service Zhunussova Aliya Anarhanovna, who wished the participants success. On behalf of the university administration, a letter of appreciation and commemorative gifts were presented to the Museum Director.
Learners of 1st–4th year from the educational programs “Tourism,” “International Tourism,” and “Restaurant and Hotel Business” participated in the competition. The contest was organized in a team format, with each group presenting a 10–15 minute guided tour based on museum exhibitions. The works of the learners were evaluated by a professional jury according to approved criteria, including level of subject mastery, structure of presentation, accuracy of information, speech culture, interaction with the audience, and compliance with time regulations.
While the jury was making its decision, the university ensemble “Sherter” performed a creative number, enriching the program of the event.
According to the final results, the “Nomads” team was awarded first place. Prize-winning positions were also taken by “Heart of Astana” (second place) and “Guardians of Heritage” (third place). The teams were awarded diplomas of respective degrees and commemorative gifts.
The competition enabled learners to integrate theoretical knowledge with practice, refine professional skills in a museum environment, and develop as future specialists. In addition, the event strengthened cooperation between the university and the museum, becoming an important platform demonstrating the connection between education and culture.
