Department of Economics and Management

Providing full-fledged and high-quality professional education in the field of economics, management and public administration, training highly qualified specialists for various sectors of the economy.

The history of the department dates back to 2013. In September 2022, as part of the improvement of the organizational structure of the University, the Department of Economics and Management was established, combining educational programs in economics, management and public administration.

Since its foundation, the department has been training bachelors and masters in economics and management, providing high-quality education that meets the modern requirements of the labor market and state educational policy.

During the period of its activity, the department has formed a qualified teaching staff, actively develops educational, methodological, research and educational work, participates in the implementation of educational and scientific projects, and cooperates with enterprises and organizations to improve the practical orientation of students' training.

The Department of Economics and Management is focused on the introduction of modern approaches to education and training of specialists who are able to work effectively in the digital economy and a rapidly changing professional environment.

Interactive teaching methods, case technologies, project work, business games, analysis of real management situations and elements of blended learning are actively used in the educational process.

The practice-oriented approach is implemented through the passage of professional practices, the implementation of applied projects, the participation of employers in the educational process, guest lectures and master classes.

One of the department's priorities is the development of international cooperation, the participation of teachers and students in international conferences, research projects and academic mobility programs.

In order to digitalize the educational process, modern educational platforms, electronic educational resources, digital services and distance learning tools are used.

The department maintains close cooperation with employers, which makes it possible to take into account the current requirements of the labor market when improving educational programs and organizing practical training for students.

Special attention is paid to the development of the scientific potential of teachers and students through participation in research projects, publication activity, scientific events and training of young researchers.

Graduates of the educational program have knowledge in the field of public administration, regional economics, municipal management and strategic planning. They are able to analyze the socio-economic development of regions, develop and evaluate government programs, predict the development of territories and participate in solving urgent social and economic problems.

Graduates can carry out professional activities in the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ministries and departments, local executive bodies, akimats of various levels, state-owned enterprises, national companies, joint-stock companies, as well as in organizations interacting with the public sector.

Scientific research / Scientific activity

The scientific activity of the Department of Economics and Management is aimed at conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of sustainable development, digital transformation of the economy, labor market and human capital research.

Ongoing scientific projects

The teachers of the department participate in the implementation of research projects aimed at solving current socio-economic problems and developing the scientific potential of the university. The research results are introduced into the educational process and used in the preparation of scientific publications.

Publication activity

The faculty of the department is actively engaged in research activities and publishes research results in leading domestic and foreign scientific publications.

Every year, the faculty of the Department publishes the results of scientific research in publications recommended by the National Research Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as in international peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.

The department's publishing activities are aimed at developing scientific potential, improving the quality of research and strengthening the university's position in the national and international scientific space.

Participation in grant research

Teachers of the department take part in competitions for grant financing of scientific research, carry out scientific projects within the framework of state and international programs.

International scientific cooperation

The department actively develops international cooperation with foreign universities and scientific organizations. The faculty and students of the department take part in international conferences, scientific seminars, research projects, academic mobility programs and joint scientific events.

Organization of conferences, seminars and round tables

The department is an organizer and co-organizer of scientific and practical conferences, round tables, scientific seminars and other events aimed at discussing topical issues of economics, management and public administration.

Achievements of teachers and students

A significant achievement of the department was the recognition (nostrification) of the doctoral degree of senior lecturer S.B. Kasymova, obtained at a foreign university.

In 2026, Asainov A.Zh., a lecturer at the department, successfully defended his doctoral thesis at the Graduate University of Mongolia, which became a significant contribution to the development of the scientific potential of the department.

The students of the department demonstrate high results not only in academic and scientific activities, but also in sports. Gamzaev Satavutdin, a student of the Management educational program, is a winner and prize-winner of national and international MMA competitions. In 2025-2026, he won the first place at the Kazakhstan MMA Cup (Petropavlovsk), Koktem Open (Astana) and Burabay Cup (Shchuchinsk) tournaments, the second place at the Ramadan Cup tournament (Pavlodar), as well as the third place at the Eurasian Cup international tournament." (Baku, Azerbaijan).

In 2025, Master's degree, senior lecturer of the department Takhanova G.T. and student of the MT-221/1 group Nurlankyzy Sabina won the Grand Prix of the pair performance competition "Zhuldyzdy zhup - 2025", demonstrating a high level of creative skills and adequately representing the department at a university event.

Academic circles and research groups

The Department of Economics and Management successfully operates the student scientific circle "Leader", whose activities are aimed at developing students' research competencies, developing skills in scientific analysis, academic writing and project activities.

The participants of the Leader Council of People's Commissars are actively involved in research work, take part in national research competitions, subject Olympiads, scientific and practical conferences, seminars and round tables.

In 2025, students of the Management educational program became holders of the first degree diploma of the Republican Student Research Competition (R&D), held on the basis of Esil University.

Also in 2025, students of the department took the third place at the XVII Republican Subject Olympiad among students of higher educational institutions in the educational program "Management", organized by Narxoz University.

In 2026, students of the educational program "State and Local Government" were awarded a diploma of the II degree of the XVII Republican Contest of students' research papers among higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held on the basis of TAU University.

The work of the SNK "Leader" contributes to the development of the scientific potential of students, increasing their research activity and the formation of professional competencies necessary for successful scientific and professional activities.
